A Literature Study of The Male Climacteric Disorder

Abstract
The male climacteric disorder is syndrome of psychoneurosis, vasomotor, loss of sexual function symptoms grows according to physiological changes in presenium between 45 to 65 ages.
This study was performed to investigate causes of disease, pathogenic mechanisms, syptoms, therapies and prescriptions through the successive medical literatures, recent chinese medical literatures and chinese medical journals.
The results are following;
1. The male climacteric disorder is applicable to presenium sexual function of both sexes is decreased gradually due to the kidney-qi senility. It occurs between 45 to 65, but most of them between 55 to 65. It is later and slighter than female according to occurrence period and degree of physical changes, definition of symptoms and sensitivity of psychologic changes.
2. Most of symptoms are psychoneurologic, for example loss of confidence, melancholia, anxiety, palpitation, insomnia and amnesia etc, the rest are vasomotors like hot flush, fever and sweat etc, and loss of sexual function like decline of sexual desire, sexual impotence, premature ejaculation etc.
It happens to occur psychoneurologic symptoms due to loss of sexual function like nuerasthenia, presexual excessive excitement, palpitation and sexual anxiety or impatient.
3. The symptoms are silmilar to pavor, severe palpitation, vertigo, stasis, insomnia, dysphoria and consumption ect. Consumption is applicable to loss of sexual function and the rest to psychoneurosis and vasomotor.
4. The most principal cause of disease is deficiency of kidney, and the rest are phlegm fire, stasis and deficiency of qi and blood. In causes of disease of the occidental medicine there are male-hormone deficiency due to loss of testis function, cryptorrhea due to homeostatic imbalance in hypothalamus-hypothalamus-hypophysis-sexual gland and psychoneurologic factors. It is also promoted by constitution, health, nutrition and chronic diseases etc.
5. There are deficiency of liver-yin and kidney-yin, insufficiency of both the spleen-yang and kidney-yang, breakdown of the normal physiological coordination between the heart and the kidney, stagnation of the liver-qi and deficiency of the spleen in principal pathogenic mechanisms.
It has something to do with kidney, heart, liver and spleen in Zang-Fu Organs.
6. There are nourishing the liver kidney, warming and invigorating the spleen and kidney in principal therapy. The rest are nourishing yin to reduce pathogenic fire, restoring normal coordination between the heart and the kidney, soothing the liver and regulating the circulation of qi, invigorating the spleen and promoting the circulation of qi.
In precriptions there are Liuwei Dihuang Wan, Zuogui Yin, Huanshao Dan, Yougui Yin, Tianwang Buxin Dan and Chaihu Shugan San etc. And in medical herbs prepared rehmannia root, dogwood fruit, wolfberry fruit, glossy privet fruit, pilose antler, bitter cardamon and raspberry etc.
7. Psychologic treatment is necessary as well as medication In care there are pleasure, regular life, exercise and diet control etc. And we have to reduce promotive factors like as obesity, diabetes, hypertention and hyperlipemia etc.
